1970 Tonka Toys Look Book

The 1970 Tonka Toys Look Book marked the last year that all of the models from the 4 primary series; Tiny, Mini, Regular and Mighty; would be featured in a look book. Tonka Totes, Gigglers, Toddlers and various other whimsical series, made brief appearances in the Look Book but it was the Tonka trucks that made the Look Book popular. Speaking of whimsical, Tonka Totes were front and center in the 1970 Look Book. Those models were: #110 Hemi Hauler, #112 Thumper Dump, #114 Quicker Mixer, #116 Wicked Wrecker, #177 Scream'n Demon, #175 Bug Blaster, #179 Dune Duster and the #181 Double Deuce.

The first 9 Tiny Tonka models shown in the 1970 Look Book are what Tonka calls "Crazy A's". The models were: #432 Smart Cart, # 434 Rat-A-Tat-Tat, #436 Rumble Bee, #438 Taxi, #450 Mod Rod, #452 Draggin' Wagon, #454 Scorcher, #456 Stinger and #458 Frantic Fliver. The balance of the Tiny Tonka models were: #495 Dozer, #503 Fun Buggy with Top, #515 Pick-up, #527 Dump Stake, #521 Loader, #535 Dump, #555 Wrecker, #575 Cement Mixer, #580 School Bus, #585 Snap Dragon, #595 Pumper, #615 Sanitary Service, #635 Car Carrier, #655 Bottom Dump, #675 Aerial Ladder, #695 Lowboy and Dozer, #810 Transportation Set, #815 Construction Set and the #825 Crazy A's Set.

Tonka did not produce a 1971 Look Book to cut costs because of less than stellar sales. Tonka continued to use the Look Book printed in 1970 through the 1971 product year.
